About Us
Approach
Odey Asset Management was launched in 1991 to focus on active fund management at a time when the industry was obsessed by investment indices. Critical of the deskilling effects of indexation and the relentless asset gathering, Crispin Odey was determined that original research and rigorous analysis should drive the investment process.
Today we remain committed to these principles: more than half of our staff are investment professionals, the firm is driven by performance and not asset gathering and benchmarks play no part in portfolio construction. Instead our Managers build portfolios from first principles using judgment and primary research to set asset allocation, to understand industrial cycles and to select stocks.
This approach means that our strategies are necessarily capacity constrained. However, we have established a loyal and diverse client base and over the long term we have performed well across our strategies.
